Double Action OTF Knives – Automatic Open & Close

A classic stiletto switchblade is a side-opening automatic knife recognized by its long, narrow handle, metal bolsters, distinctive blade profile, and push-button opening mechanism. These knives are inspired by traditional European stiletto designs and are popular among collectors and automatic-knife enthusiasts.

Pressing the firing button releases a spring-powered mechanism that automatically opens the blade from the side of the handle. Many traditional models also include a sliding safety intended to help prevent the button from being pressed accidentally.

Italian-style describes the knife's traditional design, including its slender profile, polished bolsters, push-button operation, and classic bayonet or dagger-inspired blade. It does not necessarily mean the knife was manufactured in Italy. Check each product listing for available country-of-origin information.

Nine-inch and 11-inch models are among the most recognizable sizes. A 9-inch stiletto offers classic styling in a more compact package, while an 11-inch model provides the larger proportions traditionally associated with full-size stiletto switchblades.

Classic stiletto switchblades commonly feature bayonet, dagger-inspired, spear-point, or drop-point blades. Available finishes may include polished, satin, stonewashed, or darker tactical finishes. Always review whether the blade has a single edge, partially sharpened second edge, or double edge before ordering.

Stiletto switchblade handles are available in wood, pearl-style acrylic, simulated ivory, stag, horn-inspired materials, and decorative composites. Handle material can significantly change the appearance and character of an otherwise similar knife.

A traditional stiletto generally has fixed guards positioned near the blade opening. A swinguard knife features guards that move into position alongside the blade as it opens, creating the distinctive profile that gives the design its name.

Keep the blade channel clean and dry, apply a small amount of appropriate knife lubricant when needed, and avoid using excessive oil that can collect dirt. Do not force the blade or use the knife for prying. Store it safely with the blade closed and the safety engaged when equipped.

Laws governing automatic knives vary by state and locality and may regulate purchasing, ownership, shipping, possession, blade length, or carry method. Buyers are responsible for reviewing all applicable laws before ordering or carrying a switchblade.
